Blood Count Guide

Ok, this is my first time doing a guide. I'll try to cover as many aspects of the Blood Count (BC) as I can, but yet, I'll declare this guide as “miniguide”. ¿Why? Because I do this on my own experience. A true guide seeks the vision of more than one player and attempts to take into the general opinion of the game community. Other thing to mention is that this is NOT general guide on how to get Blood Essence. I'll attempt to cover the most basic aspects of Blood Count, but remenber, you may find mistakes and you might want to add your experience, and this miniguide is completely open to discussion, the opinion of other players, and obviously correction. And yes, I do this because I see people asking for a understandable guide of the Blood Count, and because I felt the need to correct the disaster and shameful depiction of “guide” made by certain player (no names please).

Without further ado, lets go for the questions.

1.¿What is the Blood Count?
Blood Count (or BC) are the red colored numbers you can see in the lower right of your screen. As you defeat monsters, they increase. Once they reach 999, you are able to get a Blood Essence by clicking on the number once the counter to 999 is complete. You will get a notice once you complete it.

2.¿What is a Blood Essence?
A blood essence is a important item which allows you to increase the power of your weapon. You do this by talking with the Refinement Material NPC in Hefei and exchaning the blood essence for a Dragon Blood. There are diverse types of Dragon Blood. The easiest Dragon Blood to get upgrades your weapon from +2 to +3, with a certain chance of failing and destroying your weapon.

3.¿Do player kill (PK) sum to the Blood Count?
As long as my experience goes, the player kills (PK) DOESNT help blood count. You are able to get karma from players only, but not BC. NOTE: if someone thinks otherwise please post.

4. ¿How do I loss my Blood Count?
Your blood counter is resetted back to zero (0) if you die / enter coma. However, if you enter into near death (when the blue bar appears and starts to diminish) and you are shocked back to life you won't loss the blood count you've acquired so far. Keep in mind that being killed by monsters and bosses resets your blood count. Getting killed by a player doesn't reset your count.

5. ¿What else I get for reaching the 999 in the Blood count?
Nothing else than a blood essence and the satisfaction of reaching 999, since is quite hard and not all players are able to do it often. (But you may get some bits of Good Karma for all the monsters you killed in the process).

What TO do and what NOT to do:

What to do:
- Kill monster within your level reach (yellow, white, green) (This may vary greatly by the player's role / class)
- Keep extreme care of your current Hp (Life energy)
- Do everything possible to increase survival chances: have a big party, get as buffed possible.
- Watch out of the defense decrease of Rage and Berserk Modes.
- Avoid being mobbed (attacked by numerous enemies at once)
- If you see your Hp bar blinking, it means you have less than 10% of your Life energy. If that happens, leave combat inmediately regardless of how much energy your opponent has left and meditate on the nearest safest spot.

What not to do:
- Attack orange and red named monsters. (This may vary greatly by the player's role / class)
- Attempt to solo Bosses very near your level (white, yellow).
- Grind on boss spawn areas. (Consult other guides or players help to see which boss spawns where)

The Aggro factor

Aggro is when a NPC enemy, or monster, turn into aggressive stance agaisnt you and attacks. It has been proven that certain things causes aggro while others keeps it low. Remenber that even standing still in peace mode does activate aggro, but is not as often as, for example, when you do a Smashing skill. One way to prevent too much aggro is to continously do the combo attack only and keep low the skills you do. (This is based on my experience). Aggro is a variable threat to your BC, depending on how many counts you have and the number of enemies you have on you at once.

¿What is the best kill for BC?
This is probably the biggest question when it comes to get the best for making the 999 blood count. Basically, not every enemy you kill gives you a instant valid kill for the blood count. The key is to check onto the monster level, and your own level. I'll do my own depiction of this work, however, once again I mention that this is my own experience and is subject to player discussion and modification. This is as follows: X represents how many times you need to kill a opponent of the same name color to obtain a single count. This is very simple and crude, and might not work the real way:

Red named enemy (¿?¿?)
Orange named enemy (x1or x2)
Yellow name enemy (x2 or x3)
White name enemy (x3)
-Player-
Blue named enemy (x4 or x5)
Light blue named enemy (x5 or x6 or more)
Deep blue named enemy (none)

Bosses

Bosses are worthless kills if you plan to get blood counts. Not only for the time they take to kill, but because is very probably the blood count system works same of the bosses. They dont seem to give you extra counts. If someone thinks otherwise please post. Besides, try not to solo them unless you have a proper party or you are fully confident of your skills. This also add to CoF runs (Choice of Fate).

Blood Count priority

Is not the same to have 100 BC than to have 500+ BC, so as blood count increases, your safety measures should increase in order to achieve the 999 goal. Up to the 350 and more you shouldn't worry to loss you BC, you might've able to achieve it again in a matter of very few hours, or less depending on what you kill. Once you get to the 450 you must be watching out for your HP constantly and avoid being heavy mobbed. After 600+ do everything possible in your sleeve to not die, and avoid bosses as well. At the 800 BC, you might not want to grind alone and find parties all time, to increase chance of ressurrection may you enter in near death.

BC approach by class / role

Every role has a different way of killing monsters, meaning is a different approach to the 999 goal. Here is a brief depiction of each style points:
Warrior: One of the fastest killers, but the lack of self healing presents a serious drawback. They need to take care of their HP the most.
Nuker: Slow paced kill. They normally goes one vs. one at a time, and needs to constantly take distance. On the other hand, they always stay out of the monster packs.
Healer: Their heals makes them suitable for some close combat, and they get even more powerful with their buffs on.
Hybrid: A good choice when it comes to BCing your way around. They have a slightly higher damage then healers and may at least have enough heals to sustain themselves. Also they draw enemies out of packs with light nukes.

This ends my insight on the Blood Count system. Please post your opinion and share your knowledge, also any detail you don't see fit of this guide. For last time, I mention this guide was made on pure own knowledge and I dint asked any other player for help on details.
